The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that the team has acquired forward Alex Oriakhi from the Erie BayHawks in a three-team trade. Erie receives Ty Walker from the Maine Red Claws and Maine receives a third round pick in the 2014 NBA Development League Draft from Sioux Falls and a fourth round pick from Erie to complete the trade. The entirety of the three-team deal is contingent on all players passing physicals.
Oriakhi averaged 7.8 points and 6.8 rebounds in 22 games (19 starts) with the BayHawks this season. He was selected by the Phoenix Suns in the second round (57th overall) of the 2013 NBA Draft. The 6-9, 255-pound forward averaged 11.2 points and 8.4 rebounds in 34 games as a senior at the University of Missouri. He played his first three seasons at the University of Connecticut and was a member of the 2011 NCAA National Championship team.
To make room for him the team waived guard John Allen and placed forward Anthony Mason, Jr. on the inactive list. The active roster now stands at 10 players.
Season tickets and 12-ticket flex packs for the 2013-14 season are on sale. Discounts and benefits are available for groups of 10 or more. For more information, please contact a Skyforce representative at (605) 332-0605.
