Skyforce Lands Three On All-NBA D-League Team

Sioux Falls, S.D. (May 1, 2014) – Sioux Falls Skyforce players Justin Hamilton, DeAndre Liggins and Alex Oriakhi have been announced as All-NBA D-League Selections for the 2013-14 season, as voted on by the league’s 17 head coaches.

Hamilton was named to the 2014 NBA D-League First Team as well as the 2014 NBA D-League All-Defensive First Team. The 7-0, 255-pound center averaged 19.2 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2 blocks in 39 games with the Skyforce (all starts). During the 2013-14 season, he earned a 10-day contract with the Charlotte Bobcats before signing a contract with the Miami HEAT for the remainder of the season. Coach Pat Delany on Hamilton, “I couldn’t be happier for him. Justin works hard on the court, both offensively and defensively, and it’s nice to see the coaches recognize how much he meant to our team.”

Liggins, the 2014 NBA D-League Defensive Player of the Year, joins Hamilton on the 2014 NBA D-League All-Defensive First team as well as earning 2014 NBA D-League Second Team honors. He averaged 14.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 4.8 assists and a league-leading 2.6 steals in 42 games (41 starts). The 6-6, 209-pound guard received two 10-day contracts with the Miami HEAT during the 2013-14 season. Coach Delany on Liggins, “DeAndre is an NBA caliber player who brought it day in and day out and was able to impact games with and without the ball. His hard work is well respected around the league.”

Oriakhi was named to the 2014 NBA D-League All-Rookie First Team. He averaged 6.5 points and 5.6 rebounds in 21 games (7 starts) after the Skyforce acquired him in a trade with the Erie BayHawks on February 8. The 6-9, 255-pound forward was selected by the Phoenix Suns in the second round (57th overall) of the 2013 NBA Draft. Coach Delany on Oriakhi, “Alex grew a lot over the course of the season and you can see why the Suns drafted him in the 2nd Round. He is a great player and person and we were happy to have him in Sioux Falls.”

Season tickets and 12-ticket flex packs for the 2014-15 season are on sale. For more information, please contact a Skyforce representative at (605) 332-0605.
