Sky Zone: Sioux Falls' New Indoor Trampoline Park

February 5, 2013, 5:07 PM by Don Jorgensen

Sky Zone: Sioux Falls' New Indoor Trampoline Park
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

There's a new park scheduled to open in Sioux Falls this weekend, but you don't have to worry about weather. Because it's guaranteed kids will be jumping at the chance to play at this park.

From the outside it looks like a brand new office building.   But inside, it's unlike anything Sioux Falls has ever seen.

Welcome to the Sky Zone, the city's only indoor trampoline park.

"I still can't believe I own this place," owner Scott Redd said.

Redd and his wife have been working to open the Sky Zone for almost two years.  His wife saw the idea in California and you could say it sort of spring boarded from there.

There are a total of five trampoline courts: the Main Court, the Foam Zone, the Dodge Ball court and the Sky Slam Court. There are also concessions.

Each player gets a pair of these high top shoes to wear on the trampolines.

"Adults can come in here.  We'll encourage them to give it a try," Redd said.

But be ready to sweat.

"You spend 15 to 20 minutes on the trampolines and you're catching your breath.  You're breathing hard," Redd said.

The park is enclosed with angled trampolines that allow you to literally bounce off the walls.  But Redd says safety is a top priority.

"Every court will have a monitor, about like a life guard at a swimming pool, that is going to watch the activity to make sure we are separating the smaller kids from the larger kids, so they're safe as can be.  And if you get someone who is getting out of control, they are going to pull them in and make sure they're following the rules because nobody is having fun if somebody gets hurt," Redd said.

The Sky Zone opens this Saturday.
