Once again the city is using snow gates on six of its plows.
This is the 4th year they've been used. The first three years, the city was *testing them to collect data to see how efficiently they would work. While the *snow gates aren't new, they are to all of their operators who are using them this year.
“Just trying to get more time with operators who have not used them before and to go into areas that we potentially haven't been in in the past, more of a training year for us as opposed to a formal test year,” Mark Cotter with Sioux Falls Public Works said.
While most residents like the snow gates, the city says it takes longer to plow residential streets while using them. In April, Sioux Falls voters will get to decide whether or not all city plows should have snow gates.
