A 17-year-old is facing multiple drug charges after being pulled over Thursday evening.
A Sioux Falls Police officer pulled a vehicle over near the intersection of Minnesota Ave. and I-229 shortly after 8:00 p.m. when the officer saw that the car had heavily-tinted windows. When the officer approached the car to speak with the driver, the smell of marijuana came from the window. The officer found a bag of marijuana in the car cup-holder and then began a more detailed search.
During the search, officers found nine bags of marijuana, a scale, a marijuana pipe, multiple empty bags and a loaded .357 handgun. The amount of marijuana found in the vehicle totaled 125 grams, or just over a quarter-pound. $575 was also found in the search.
The teen was transported to the juvenile detention center and faces charges of possession of marijuana, possession with the intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm with the intent to commit a felony.
