Sioux Falls Standoff Ends

February 22, 2014, 2:42 AM by Perry Groten

Sioux Falls Standoff Ends

A man is in jail for firing a gun that led to a standoff with the SWAT team in northeast Sioux Falls

Authorities arrested Christopher Thomas Harkless early Saturday morning at a home on North Timberline.

A woman called 911 Friday night and said Harkless was upset and armed with a rifle.  Police say he fired one round outside the home.  Police say Harkless then locked himself in the bathroom.  That's when two women inside were able to get out safely.

Authorities shut down traffic in the area during the standoff.

Harkless is charged with aggravated assault, reckless discharge of a firearm and possession of a loaded firearm while intoxicated.
