SIOUX FALLS, SD -
South Dakota authorities conducted a sobriety checkpoint overnight in Sioux Falls.
Highway patrol troopers, Sioux Falls police and Minnehaha County sheriff's deputies stopped vehicles from 11:00 Friday night until 2:00 Saturday morning on Interstate 229, near the Minnesota Avenue exit.
While final, officials numbers won't be released until later, KELOLAND News was at the checkpoint and counted more than a dozen arrests, mostly for drunk driving. There was also a prescription drug-related arrest.
We'll have a full report on the effort to get drunk drivers off the road during the holiday weekend, on KELOLAND Weekend News at Six and Ten.
