October 10, 2011, 8:58 AM
SIOUX FALLS, SD -
Sioux Falls officials say city bus ridership is increasing.
August ridership increased 13.7 percent over August 2010, or almost 10,500 more rides. It follows a 9 percent increase in July from 2010 numbers, or 5,600 more rides.
Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether says high fuel prices and improved bus routes are helping boost ridership.
Transit officials say were about 861,000 bus riders last year, or about 100,000 more than in 2007.
