Sioux Falls police made a significant drug bust Wednesday afternoon, seizing nearly nine pounds of methamphetamine and more than $94,000 cash.
A woman who had rented a room at a hotel on Tuesday forgot a large amount of money under the mattress. When she returned to pick up the cash, the room was already rented to another person. Hotel staff refused to let her in the room and ended up calling the police.
Police say the woman had left $87,340 in the room.
Police pulled her over Wednesday afternoon around 1:00. After searching the vehicle, they found nearly nine pounds of methamphetamine, $3,000 in cash, marijuana and paraphernalia.
Police then searched the woman's home. There they found 14.1 grams of methamphetamine and $3,686 in cash.
A total of three people were arrested as a result of this drug bust, two from the car and one from the home. They are 42-year-old Regina Renee Johnson, 42-year-old Robert Raymond Jackson and 19-year-old Austin Jon Dalstead.
All three were arrested for distribution of controlled substance, possession of controlled substance, possession of marijuana less than 2 oz. and possession of paraphernalia. Dalstead was also arrested for maintaining a place where drugs are sold.
