The announcement was quick, but it's one that means big things for country music fans all over KELOLAND.
"There were some sites that released and there's rumors out there. We just want to confirm that yes, in fact, Jason Aldean will be coming to Sioux Falls," Sioux Falls Arena General Manager Terry Torkildson said.
The rumors started this morning, and now the chatter is official. Aldean is one of the biggest stars in country music today, selling over 8.5 million records and having 12 number-one hits. On his last tour, the "My Kinda Party Tour" named after his last album, every venue he performed in sold out in minutes.
"It's probably one of the largest country acts that has come to Sioux Falls. Jason Aldean's a phenomenal artist. His tours have set records. So, yeah, it's a great event to have. It's one of those that we've been dreaming about for a long time," Torkildson said.
When it comes to the venue and the date of his performance, those details are unclear. Torkildson says that the concert will likely take place in the fall of 2014. That lines up perfectly with the opening of the brand-new Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, but as of right now, that's only speculation.
"We've been asked not to state the venue, but it's in the fall of 2014, SMG is making the announcement and we're standing on this site," Torkildson said.
Torkildson says that the new PREMIER Center could potentially hold up to 13,000 people if the concert stage is set up in the center of the building, which would be ideal for Aldean's large fan base.
Aldean's camp will release an exact date and location of the concert at a later time.
