Plowing of emergency snow routes started earlier in the day and will continue until the routes are clear. Crews will move to Zone 3 after 6:30 p.m.; others will start working on the east/west streets in Zone 2 at 8 p.m. Plows will clear north/south streets in zone 2 starting Friday at 8 a.m. Efforts to clear snow in Zone 1 will begin at 1 a.m. on Saturday.
All vehicles parked on streets during snow plow operations are subject to ticketing and towing. Check the city's Snow Alert and Removal map to find out if crews are working in your neighborhood.
The city also wants to remind property owners that they have 48 hours to clean snow and ice from their sidewalks.
Many other communities have also issued snow alerts. Check the KELOLAND.com Closeline for more information on alerts in other towns.
