Sioux Falls On Track To Break Record Year For Construction
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Sioux Falls may break last year's record for building in the city. In 2013 building permits were valued at $377 million dollars. In the first six months of 2014, values are already at $335 million dollars. 5,653 permits have been issued so far in 2014, while only 4,516 were issued throughout all of 2013.

With $149 million in new residential construction, 2014 has almost caught up with 2013 total of $151 million. Residential remodels and additions have doubled from last year to $49 million dollars.

643 apartment units have been built in the first six months of this year, compared with 561 for all of last year. The biggest job in the city is the apartment complex located next to Costco. The Scheels IcePlex, the new Susan B. Anthony Elementary School and a new fire station are all among the top construction jobs in the city so far this year.
