Sioux Falls New Construction Down In January

February 3, 2014, 1:10 PM by Angela Kennecke

Sioux Falls New Construction Down In January
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Last year, new construction values broke an all-time record at $588 million in Sioux Falls.  This year isn't off to as strong of a start as 2013.

New building permits issued in January totaled nearly $23 million.  That's down from about $38 million in January last year.

One major difference is that the number of permits for new apartment buildings is down.

But hospital construction and new single-family homes are right in line with last year.  And many of those being built are high-end homes.

On Your Money Matters at 10, KELOLAND's Angela Kennecke finds out what we can expect when it comes to construction in the city for the rest of 2014.
