Sioux Falls Bicyclist Hit By Car Dies

SIOUX FALLS, SD -
The Sioux Falls bicyclist who was hit by a car Sunday has died.
Sioux Falls police say 23-year-old James McInnes III was riding his bicycle along 10th Street at Fairfax Avenue when he was struck. He was not wearing a helmet and suffered life-threatening injuries. Officials say he died Monday night and was taken off life support Tuesday morning.
David Kinner, the driver, is charged with driving under the influence and vehicular battery. Police believe Kinner had taken too much of a prescription medicine to be driving. They don't know whether he ran a red light or was going faster to beat traffic when the light turned green.
The state's attorney's office will decide whether to file new charges.
