Sioux Falls Airshow Parking and Schedule Details

July 19, 2012, 8:30 AM by Lindsey Branwall

Sioux Falls Airshow Parking and Schedule Details
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

The Sioux Falls Airshow has made some improvements since it’s last air show in 2009. One of those is making getting in and out of the show easier by integrating public parking lots around the airport.

Officials have set up public parking lots surrounding the airport with shuttles running to the base. Shuttles will run continuously from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. All of the lots will be along Interstate 29 off exits 80, 81 and 82. There is a $3 fee for the shuttles, but those who are handicapped or under the age of five can ride free of charge.

There are also specific parking lots set up for those who are handicapped or are commuting via bicycle; they are located closer to the airport for convenience of those travelers.

While much of the airshow buzz has been about the Blue Angels, a number of other acts will be a part of this weekend’s action. The F-16s will kick off Saturday’s show. The crowd’s will be able to enjoy this action from their local South Dakota Air National Guard team.

Attendees can expect to see aerobatic maneuvers from local Jacquie B’s Extra 300 monoplane, Dick Schulz’ Pitts S-2B bi-plane, and a few P-51 Mustangs that all date back to the World War II era.

You can also look forward to seeing the futuristic stealth bomber on Saturday. But make sure to keep an eye in the skies over the next few days as you’ll be seeing some more traffic in the air over the next few days, as all of the planes and teams from the ground are practicing for this weekend’s events.

To see the entire list of performers visit the Sioux Falls Airshow website.
