A single-screen movie theater in Vermillion has closed after serving the area for more than four decades.
The Vermillion Theater closed August 17. The theater had been in the area for 43 years.
Manager Terry Johnson says the theater was surviving despite decreased business. He says the owner Jack Marsh decided to move the theater's lone digital projector to his other Vermillion theater, the Coyote Twin.
Craig Cummings was the last patron to buy a ticket at the theater on Sunday. Cummings says he grew up in Vermillion and is sad to see the long-time fixture go.
Cummings and Johnson say they hope someone else buys the building to keep it alive as a theater.
