One year ago a powerful storm blew through South Central South Dakota and dumped about six inches of rain in some parts of KELOLAND.
The rush of water washed out a stretch of Tribal Highway 10 between Reliance and Lower Brule.
Fifty-six-year old Gwen Michalek and 61-year old Ellen Wright were driving in separate vehicles, when they hit the massive hole and the rushing water carried them away.
On Thursday, friends and family will gather to remember the women and dedicate a sign in their honor.
KELOLAND News will be at the ceremony Thursday and bring you more on this dedication.
