Shopping Local For The Holidays

November 19, 2012, 9:07 AM by Kellee Azar

Shopping Local For The Holidays
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

While you may have checked out some of the Black Friday ads already, Lewis Drug wants shoppers to find the best deals while doing a good deed for your community.

For many shoppers, the great deals are what get them to the stores on Black Friday. But some avoid the big box stores all together to shop local.

"I, personally, like to shop locally because it keeps the money in the community and helps with city projects among the city and county," shopper Brittany Bloch said.

That's exactly why Bloch is shopping at Lewis Drug.

"I think small stores like Lewis do very well during the holiday seasons.  They usually have a lot of great deals on Christmas items, Thanksgiving items and holiday items," Bloch said.

Manager Bob Deaton says the store tries to stay competitive with deals but that's not all.

"We try very hard to make sure you are getting your same value for your dollar at our store as you would any of the big boxes. The other thing about Lewis is we do give back to the Sioux Falls community quite extensively," Deaton said.

And that's why customers such as Bloch keep coming back.

"In shopping in a store like Lewis you can always get the help you need the prices you want and still competitive and keeps the money within the community," Bloch said.

And as the biggest shopping season approaches, Lewis is upping the ante to make the store stick out against competitors.

"We work very hard to make sure that the selections that people see on national television are here. We also look for some variance that may not be in the big box stores. We just work very hard to make sure our selection is new and different every year," Deaton said.
