Shopping All Night For Black Friday Deals

November 23, 2012, 7:45 AM by Austin Hoffman

Shopping All Night For Black Friday Deals
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

It was a packed house at Toys ”R” Us for the overnight Black Friday deals. The store opened at 8 p.m. Thursday night, but the crowds continued throughout the night with door buster deals.

Some shoppers say it's all worth it if you can find the right deals.

"We are looking for the good deals, the good bargains for Christmas," Fairfield, IA resident Jill Miller said.

Miller made the nearly seven hour trip to Sioux Falls for what she calls a family tradition.

"Every year we do the after Thanksgiving shopping. We actually didn't have anything in mind that we wanted to buy but we made the trip anyway," Miller said.

Although she says the group she's with has left every store with a cartful of deals.

"We go out with a big group of four or five of us and, yep, we make it a fun trip. Last year we went for 24 hours," Miller said.

Although she says the shopping spree will be much shorter this year. Sioux Falls resident Nikki Larson and her husband originally wanted to head to Best Buy but once they spotted the long line that wrapped around the building they quickly opted for Toys "R" Us.

"It's mind blowing, it’s mind blowing. I'm originally from Bismarck, North Dakota, so the size of Sioux Falls is three times the size of Bismarck and the amount of people out is just crazy to me. It's crazy," Larson said.

With three kids at home, they're looking for a broom and dust pan set for their toddler. She says even though there might be good deals, people need to remember why they're here in the first place.

"It is as long as people are remembering really what Christmas is all about. It's not necessarily about the deals, it’s, you know, keeping Christ in Christmas, also," Larson said.

Toys ”R” Us will be open until midnight Friday night and have Black Friday deals through out the weekend.
