Shoppers Prepare For Winter Weather

This isn't the first time KELOLAND shoppers have been faced with winter weather. And when it comes to preparing for storms, many know what they need to pick up.
"They've kind of had that practice run the first couple ones, so there, they know what they need and what they don't need," Jay Beek, Hy-Vee Manager said.
Beek says the crew at Hy-Vee stocked up and prepared for this weekend's weather, but the shoppers never came.
"I think with the weather only raining, not turning in to freezing, they kinda went, uh, maybe we dont need to come in," Beek said.
While the numbers aren't as close to what they were for the Christmas blizzard, shoppers like Jo McCrary are still preparing for the worst.
"We live between Tea and Lennox so we came here and were gonna get some milk and goodies to stock up before it hits," Jo McCrary said.
And that's probably a good idea. With the rain and ice, people could wind up stranded without power.
"Were just worried about the power because were totally electric, other than our wood stove, we don't have a generator or anything, so its kinda scary," McCrary said.
But after this trip to the store, the McCrarys should be ready if the lines go down.
