Shooting Investigation Underway In Pierre
PIERRE, SD -

A teenager is dead and another is in custody in Pierre following a shooting.

Pierre police say a 16-year-old boy died after being shot and another 16-year-old is being held while the investigation continues.

Police Captain Elton Blemaste says the shooting was reported at 5:30 p.m. in the 400 block of North Buchanan Avenue, which is near the intersection with Buffalo Street. Authorities say their initial investigation shows that there were three male juveniles involved and that the boys knew each other.

Pierre Police Department and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation are investigating.

Police say there is no threat to the public.
