Shoes Of Hope

January 25, 2014, 6:27 PM by Hannah Olsen

Shoes Of Hope
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Good shoes and socks are a necessity especially during the winter months - but for some it's not as easy as just a trip to the store.

Identifying the need, Core Orthopedics and Samaritan's Feet team up to provide shoes to hundreds of children and adults this weekend. In honor of the national day of service the organization distributed Shoes of Hope for those in need in the Sioux Falls community.

“There are distributions going on around the country this weekend or this approximate time in regards to honoring Dr. Martin Luther King so that's why we are here today,” Samaritan’s Feet Volunteer Coordinator Denise Blomberg said.

SDSU and NDSU basketball is also joining in the effort to raise awareness - today Coach Nagy and NDSU's coach are both coaching bare foot during their game - a tradition that Coach Nagy started six years ago. A second shoe distribution event is planned in Brookings tomorrow.
