The Roberts County Sheriff’s Department confirms that a 59-year-old Sisseton man died during a Tuesday incident in rural Roberts County.
But, it isn’t releasing details about Murray Michael Hill’s death as law enforcement continues to investigate. Emergency responders fought a fire north of Sisseton on Tuesday near a tribal housing development.
Witnesses say first responders were trying to resuscitate a man lying between the fire and a nearby cornfield. Neighbors say homeless people tented in the grove of trees that burned.
Law enforcement isn’t releasing a cause of death at this time.
The Roberts County Sheriff’s Office, State Fire Marshall and South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation are involved in the investigation.
