It is business as usual at a Sioux Falls Target, after the weekend storms left a gaping hole on the roof. Our KELOLAND Sky Cam caught the damage, and when you see the video, it is easy to spot the hole.
"It doesn't normally happen, except for in movies," Nancy Schock, customer, said.
"We saw the picture on Facebook before we came," Jamie Stucky, customer, said.
On the inside of Target, however, Stucky said finding the hole is not quite a bullseye.
"We expected to see something inside, my kids were excited to try to find it. We saw a couple of workers in the store, or people with hard hats on, anyway. There was no mess and we had absolutely no problems," Stucky said.
The west side store shutdown on Sunday, as crews repaired the damage. By Monday, customers were filling the store as if nothing had happened. Target representatives declined an on-camera interview with KELOLAND News, nor did they confirm what exactly tore this part of the roof open. Weekend storms brought heavy rains, straight line winds and almost baseball-sized hail to the area, which all may have contributed to the roof's damage.
"It's amazing. When I was driving here, I was wondering if it (the store) was open," Schock said.
Schock says the hole doesn't appear to be anywhere in the store that's visible to customers.
"When I made a return, I asked the gal at the desk what happened, and she said she didn't know what caused it," Schock said. "It's out in the storage area, mainly; that there was a lot of damage."
Though it may look like a mess on the outside, Stucky said it does not seem like this damage will tear a hole in Target's holiday revenue.
"Seemed like business as usual to me," Stucky said.
