SF Police Investigating Fourth Armed Robbery

January 27, 2014, 5:48 PM by Ben Dunsmoor

SF Police Investigating Fourth Armed Robbery
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Another Sioux Falls clerk has been robbed at gunpoint. It's the fourth armed robbery in the last week.

The latest robbery happened early Monday morning near the corner of 12th Street and Kiwanis Avenue at the Freedom convenience store. A white man dressed in all black and wearing a black bandana stole cash from the store after pointing a handgun at the clerk.

"At this point we don't have any idea if this is related to any of the other robberies but that's something the detectives will be working on," Sam Clemens with Sioux Falls Police said.

Monday's robbery at Freedom comes exactly one week after two casinos were robbed in Sioux Falls. A white man robbed the clerk at Deuces casino at gunpoint and then later in the morning two people robbed the Paradise Casino with a knife.

Last Wednesday, two men robbed Domino's Pizza near 57th and Cliff around 1 a.m. with a gun. One suspect kept the employees in a back room, while the other raided the cash register.

Police say the best thing for clerks to do during a robbery is to give the thieves what they want.

"You can always replace the cash; don't do anything to put yourself in harms way," Clemens said.

Police are scouring surveillance footage to see whether there are any connections or clues in these incidents, but they are also asking for tips from the public to help them solve the rash of robberies.

"People talk and detectives have their sources out and they hear things so it's different information that comes in at different points and in different ways. It comes and it’s just a matter of trying to put that together and find people," Clemens said.

Police say most of the businesses in the city have added cameras and lighting to improve security and help investigators piece together information following a robbery.
