SF Mom In Jail After Fight Over Teen's Cell Phone

SF Mom In Jail After Fight Over Teen's Cell Phone

A Sioux Falls mother is in jail facing a felony abuse charge after arguing with her teenage daughter about her cell phone.

Sioux Falls Police say 35-year-old Flahn Quiah is charged with abuse or cruelty of a minor after she hit her 15-year-old daughter with a belt.

Quiah thought her teen was spending too much time on her cell phone and took it away. A heated argument took place Monday night and Quiah slapped her 15-year-old daughter in the face and the daughter proceeded to slap her mom back. Police say that’s when Quiah got out a belt and struck her daughter in the arm causing an injury.

The daughter and Quiah both called police and Quiah was arrested. The daughter doesn’t face any charges. Quiah’s charge carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison.
