SF Driver Arrested For Deadly New Year's Crash

A 20-year-old Sioux Falls man has been arrested for vehicular homicide and his second DWI following a fatal crash early New Year’s morning.

Sioux Falls Police responded to the intersection of 10th Street and Sycamore Avenue around 1:30 a.m. after a Jeep driven by Oscar Madrigal blew through a flashing red stop light and crashed into a van.

The female passenger in the van was taken to the hospital where she died of her injuries.

Madrigal was uninjured and arrested for vehicular homicide, DWI 2nd, no driver’s license, failure to obey a traffic signal, and an outstanding warrant.

The name of the victim has not been released.
