SF City Council Addresses Van Eps Park Issues

July 22, 2014, 9:55 PM by Jared Ransom

SF City Council Addresses Van Eps Park Issues
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Before talking about the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, council members addressed the growing concerns coming out of Van Eps Park.

At their next meeting, the Parks and Recreation Board will discuss whether to ban alcohol at Van Eps and Tower parks. Some council members were hoping the issue could be addressed sooner, but others suggested that the council may be in too big of a hurry to take action out of fear.

"I just want to challenge each of us to be thinking about the homelessness issue and substance abuse. All of those issues that are creating this atmosphere at this particular park. It's not just alcohol in hand that's creating this," city council member Christine Erickson said.

The next Parks and Recreation Board meeting is scheduled for August 17th.
