'Sexting' Bill Gets First Legislative Hearing
February 17, 2011, 6:46 AM
PIERRE, SD -
South Dakota lawmakers get their first look Thursday at a bill that defines juvenile "sexting" and lists possible punishments.
Sexting is the term given to electronically transmitting sexually explicit or nude photos of someone, usually by cell phone. The bill says the most serious form of sexting involves secretly obtaining a photo and distributing it to others.
The bill is up for debate in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
In the House, a committee may vote again on a bill that would restrict when wildlife conservation officers can enter private land without permission. A "do pass" motion failed on a tie vote on Tuesday, so it's back on the agenda.
