A Mitchell man who hit and killed a nine-year-old girl while he was leading authorities on a high-speed chase has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and his third DUI.
Michael Sedlmeier, 46, entered the guilty pleas Tuesday morning in Davison County.
Sedlmeier led police on a chase on March 24 after they clocked him speeding at 47 miles per hour through town. Sedlmeier ran a stop sign and hit an SUV carrying several children, including nine-year-old Iszabella Morgan, who was ejected from the vehicle and killed.
According to documents, Sedlmeier admitted at the scene that he had been drinking on the golf course earlier in the day and had "drank quite a bit" the night before.
His blood-alcohol level at the time of the crash was 0.205, more than twice the legal limit.
Sedlmeier is scheduled to be sentenced June 29.
