Officials in South Dakota's capital city are hoping that a specialty flight to Nevada will lead to more passengers traveling through the Pierre Regional Airport.
Allegiant is offering a getaway package from Pierre to Wendover, Nevada that includes accommodations at one of three resorts, plus other incentives. The first flight leaves Sunday, Oct. 7 and returns Wednesday, Oct.10.
Pierre City Commissioner Jamie Huizenga, the liaison to the airport, says officials have longed look at specialty flights and hopes it will lead to more such flights.
Huizenga says the prices start at $129 for the 150 passenger-plane. Thirty seats have already been booked.
A second flight will likely be offered in December.
