A Faulkton woman facing 35 animal abuse charges has been sentenced to prison for an unrelated probation violation.
Forty-eight-year-old Dixie B. Kodet was sentenced in 2007 on a Faulk County charge of identity theft. Kodet acknowledged Friday that she broke probation rules by failing to make regular restitution payments. She was sentenced to two years in prison and will be eligible for parole after serving 25 percent of the sentence.
The more recent case involving 35 rat terriers remains unresolved. Kodet is charged with 33 counts of inhumane treatment of animals and two counts of allowing injured or diseased animals to suffer needlessly. All those charges are misdemeanors.
