A western South Dakota woman has pleaded not guilty to two charges stemming from an incident that resulted in her husband's death after the couple's pickup plunged into a creek.
Authorities have charged 24-year-old Sara Keyte with vehicular homicide and driving under the influence.
Authorities say Keyte was behind the wheel when the pickup plunged into Rapid Creek last month. They say 27-year-old Donald Van Norman was thrown from the back seat into the creek. He died the next day at a local hospital.
Despite the prosecutor's opposition, Keyte's bond was reduced to $20,000 on Friday after her attorney told the judge hearing the case that her mental health has improved.
Pennington County Deputy State's Attorney Todd Hyronimus says he opposed the bond reduction because Keyte recently tried to commit suicide.
