A winter warm-up has put motorists on alert and skaters on hold in South Dakota.
The National Weather Service on Sunday morning issued a rain and freezing rain advisory for the southeastern corner of the state. Weather officials say cold ground temperatures could make driving - and walking - tricky.
It is also bad news for skaters. The warm weather has forced the Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation Department to close its six outdoor skating rinks, two hockey rinks and warming houses.
Officials say the rinks will reopen when ice conditions improve.
