Convicted killer Donald Moeller is scheduled to take his last breath Tuesday at 10 p.m. at the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls.
He's been sitting on death row for more than two decades. He was first convicted in 1992 for the rape and murder of nine-year-old Becky O'Connell.
Moeller appealed his conviction and the State Supreme Court reversed the decision ruling improper testimony was used during the trial. Moeller was tried again in 1997. He was found guilty and sentenced to die. Moeller appealed again, but lost.
After exhausting all of his appeals to the U.S. Supreme Court, Moeller confessed earlier this year to killing O'Connell saying, "I killed the little girl and it is just that the punishment be concluded."
This is the second execution in South Dakota in two weeks.
