SIOUX FALLS, SD -
The South Dakota Board on Geographic Names plans to discuss a couple of racist names at its next board meeting in Sioux Falls.
The group says the purpose of the meeting is to take public input on whether the word "Negro" is offensive in names of geographic features. The current legislation directs the board to rename any features with the word in the name.
Also the agenda is a proposed name for Squaw Creek in Moody County.
The meeting is Oct. 24 at the downtown Sioux Falls Library.
The agenda will be posted on the board's website.
