South Dakota is sending help to the hurricane-ravaged northeast.
Line workers from both Sioux Valley energy and Dakota energy shipped out Friday night to provide relief aid as crews struggle to get the northeast back online after Hurricane Sandy. Workers are headed to the Long Island, New York area where an estimated 650,000 people are still without power.
“I'm proud to go. As a lineman we all like adventure. This will be an adventure for us. And we'll do what we can to help them out,” line worker Robert Feldhaus said.
“Understand they're about two weeks out from having power restored. We'll be there for at least two weeks and see how close they are from there,” liner worker Steve Neises said.
This is the farthest these electric crews have gone to help out.
