SD Red Meat Production Down In December

The Agriculture Department says commercial red meat production for South Dakota totaled 79.7 million pounds during December, down 9 percent from the previous year but up 6 percent from November's production.
December pork production was down from a year ago, as was sheep and lamb production.
Commercial hog slaughter in South Dakota totaled 361,700 head, compared to 403,300 head in December 2008.
