The South Dakota School of Mines says it is moving forward to the provisional year of membership into NCAA Division II.
The school received word Friday that it has been approved to enter the third and final year of the membership transition process from the NAIA to NCAA for Hardrocker athletics.
Athletics Director Dick Kaiser says it's an exciting time for the university and the culmination of hard work, lots of hours and paperwork and a great effort,
The school was accepted into the NCAA D-II level and started the membership transition process in 2010
The provisional year means the Hardrockers will be recognized as NCAA Division II members to opponents but remain ineligible to compete in post-season play.
