A southern South Dakota man accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old minor has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The U.S. Attorney in Sioux Falls says the sentence against 27-year-old John Joseph Menard also includes 10 years of supervised release.
The Mission man in December pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree burglary and sexual abuse of a minor.
Authorities say Menard had sex with a 13-year-old minor between Feb. 12 and Feb. 18, 2009. They say Menard also entered a house on Nov. 5, 2012, got into the bed of a 7-year-old child and attempted to have sex with the child.
