The South Dakota legislative committee that puts together the state budget is working to determine how much money the state will have to spend next year.
Economists for the Legislature and Gov. Dennis Daugaard's budget office will present estimates of tax collections in a Thursday meeting of the Legislature's Joint Appropriations Committee. The committee plans to meet later in the day to make a formal decision on how much revenue to expect in the budget year beginning July 1.
The Appropriations Committee will put together the state budget before the main run of this year's legislative session ends next week.
