The South Dakota House has killed a resolution to condemn the federal health care overhaul.
The House and Senate approved different versions of the resolution and could not agree Wednesday to a compromise in a special committee. Representatives on Thursday voted 60-2 to accept the committee's impasse and defeat the measure.
The original House version chronicled the ways the state complied with implementing health reform. A Senate committee stripped out many of those details.
Members of the committee that met Wednesday said it was a waste of time to negotiate on a resolution, because it has no force of law. The proposal's main sponsor said Wednesday that resolutions are important because they declare the will of the Legislature.
