SD Has First Confirmed Flu Case Of The Season

PIERRE, SD -
South Dakota has its first confirmed case of the flu this season.
The Health Department says the case involves a Clay County resident who is between 40 and 49 years old. The person was not hospitalized.
State Epidemiologist Lon Kightlinger says flu cases this time of year are not typical but also are not unheard of.
During the 2010-11 flu season, there were 860 confirmed cases in South Dakota. The first confirmed case did not come until late October. Twenty deaths were linked to the flu.
