SD Game, Fish & Parks Advises To Leave Fireworks At Home
PIERRE, SD -

South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks asks that if you’re planning to visit any state parks or recreation areas, that you leave the fireworks at home.

State parks director Doug Hofer says that since the areas are busy with campers it creates a dangerous environment when combined with fireworks.

Fireworks are completely prohibited on lands owned and leased by Game, Fish and Parks. This ban includes:

  • State parks
  • Recreation areas
  • Lakeside use areas
  • Game production areas
  • Nature areas

It is also illegal to light off fireworks in the Black Hills Forest Fire Protection District, national forests and national parks.

For more information check out the South Dakota State Parks website.
