SD Democratic Party Chairman Resigns

July 2, 2013, 11:31 AM by Ben Dunsmoor

The chairman of the South Dakota Democratic Party is resigning to be the campaign manager for Democrat Jim Mowrer who is running against Representative Steve King in Iowa's Fourth Congressional District.

The Democratic Party announced the resignation of Ben Nesselhuf Tuesday, saying the move will allow Nesselhuf to live closer to his wife in Sioux City.

Deb Knecht will become interim chair and Zach Crago will be interim executive director.

Nearly two weeks ago, South Dakota Republican Party Executive Director Tony Post resigned to go work for the American Cancer Society of South Dakota as the government relations director.
