A South Dakota cowboy had a strong showing in the bareback riding event at the Badlands Circuit Finals Rodeo in North Dakota on Friday.
Jet Price of Buffalo went first and put up an 86 out of 100, then watched as the rest of the field at Minot's All Seasons Arena tried - and failed - to top it.
Bareback riders are scored on their ability to ride a bucking horse and the horse's bucking strength. Riders may use only one hand.
Price says his horse Crystalyx ran exactly like he anticipated he would, taking off quickly to the right before making his way straight down the arena.
Action resumes at 6:30 p.m. Saturday night.
