The South Dakota Capitol is now void of lawmakers, and state officials have gone back to work restoring the building's stained-glass skylights.
Legislators wrapped up the bulk of their work on Friday. And the grand marble staircase in the state House is blocked off with a deck built across it.
Crews will catalog and remove the glass panels from the barrel vault above the stairs. The panels arch up with a corn motif along the bottom edge.
They'll be removed on Wednesday and sent to Wisconsin for repairs. Glass from the rotunda dome was removed last August.
Crews will tackle windows in the House and Senate Chambers in April.
Plans call for the stained glass to be reinstalled by Oct. 1, in time for South Dakota's 125th anniversary in November.
