Two former South Dakota economic development leaders who died in a 1993 plane crash along with then-Governor George Mickelson have been honored at the office where they once worked.
The Capital Lake Plaza in Pierre was officially renamed the Dolly-Reed Plaza during a ceremony Friday.
Roland Dolly and Ron Reed had both served as commissioners of the Governor's Office of Economic Development. At the time of the April 19th, 1993 crash, Reed was commissioner of the Officer of Energy Policy.
Friday's ceremony, which took less than 30 minutes, included both widows, Lane Dolly and Barb Reed Harms.
The plaza building houses the Economic Development office, along with the state Tourism and state Lottery agencies.
Eight people died when the plane went down in Iowa.
