RAPID CITY, SD -
Authorities say a 4-year-old South Dakota boy suffered severe injuries but is expected to survive after being struck by a riding lawn mower.
Pennington County Sheriff's Sgt. Greg Foster says a family member operating the mower accidentally struck the boy Saturday afternoon at a home north of Rapid City. Foster says the mower operator thought the child was in a different spot and was unable to avoid hitting him.
Foster says the boy could lose both of his feet.
Authorities did not identify the boy or the family member.
