A South Dakota auto glass company is expanding. Dakotaland Autoglass, a wholesale supplier of auto glass and PPG automotive aftermarket and commercial coatings, now has 18 locations in six states.
The company expanded in North Dakota during 2013 by acquiring the PPG automotive aftermarket coatings distributorship in Minot, Williston and Dickinson from Praxair.
In November, the company moved into a new, larger facility in Minot, which now houses both its auto glass and paint-distribution businesses.
In December, Dakotaland joined forces with CR Autoglass to expand Dakotaland's presence in the auto glass market in Dickinson and moved into a new facility that houses both the auto glass and paint businesses.
Also in December, Dakotaland expanded in Colorado by acquiring Guardian Automotive Products' wholesale aftermarket auto glass distribution business in Denver. Dakotaland now has two wholesale auto glass locations in the Denver metro area.
Dakotaland’s current locations include:
• South Dakota: Aberdeen, Lake Norden, Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Yankton
• Iowa: Des Moines, Sioux City
• Minnesota: St. Paul, Marshall
• Colorado: Denver
• Wyoming: Gillette
• North Dakota: Fargo, Grand Forks, Minot, Dickinson, Bismarck
Dakotaland says it's new strategic locations, near the Bakken oil-producing region of North Dakota, will help its business grow even more.
The company started in 1978 at Lake Norden.
